At Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs, on Saturday night, Lionel Messi’s appeal was evident as ever. Inter Miami was playing Sporting KC.

Sporting KC typically holds their home games at Children’s Mercy Park, which has a maximum capacity of 21,500 spectators. But because of all the excitement about Messi’s coming in Kansas City, the team decided to transfer their matchup versus Inter Miami to Arrowhead, a much bigger stadium with around Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid were present. The famous signal-caller approached Messi in the players tunnel just before he onto the pitch and gave him a few words of encouragement: “Good luck, man. Have fun out there.”

As anticipated, Messi brought in a record-breaking attendance on Saturday, with reports of over 70,000 supporters packing the stands. Even though Miami was playing in Kansas City, the majority of spectators appeared to be cheering for Miami, as evidenced by Messi’s spectacular second-half goal.
