Josuha Guilavogui was recently signed by Leeds United to help with the dearth of choices in the defensive sections of the field, although Daniel Farke’s team has an abundance of talented players in the attack.
In the middle of the park, Guilavogui steps in to cover for Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev due to their injuries. However, his defensive skills also give Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk some much-needed cover.
Leeds, however, have plenty of cover in the attacking sections of the field. Joel Piroe is currently Farke’s first choice among his four top players, whereas Mateo Joseph was starting but was fired.
Joe Gelhardt and Patrick Bamford are behind that pair. In January, Carlton Palmer encouraged Leeds to sell Bamford, a former England player who hasn’t started a single Championship game this season.
Luke Ayling lauds “unbelievable” Leeds player Patrick Bamford This week, comedian Joe Wilkinson and current Leeds striker Bamford joined Middlesbrough defender and Elland Road legend Luke Ayling as guests on My Mate’s A Footballer pod. He gave Bamford kudos.
Ayling offered his assessment on Bamford, stating that the former England player’s movement is “unbelievable” despite his lack of playing experience and seeming inability to stay healthy for longer than a few months at a time.
I told him about his mobility, but it’s astonishing. When talking about Bamford on the latter’s podcast, Ayling remarked, “His work rate is a joke and then in the gym, and we weren’t big into the gym.”
“We’re all sitting there saying this man is a trojan when he comes in with his chest built like this, doing chin-ups with 25KG dangling from his belt. We immediately realized we had a player on our hands,” Ayling continued.
Bamford is defended by Daniel Farke, although the statistics are somewhat incriminating.
When questioned about Bamford in the wake of Palmer’s remarks, Daniel Farke jumped to his defense ahead of Tuesday’s victory over Watford. Bamford is still an important member of this Leeds team, he claimed.
Is he, though? Farke even asserted that Leeds would have been in the Premier League if Bamford had been healthy for the final stretch of the previous campaign. However, the Whites boss has to acknowledge that Bamford will be an outsider this season.
Joseph was still a rookie last term and was only sometimes used. However, Joseph is a vital member of the team this season and has surpassed Bamford to start at the top of Farke’s 4-2-3-1 formation at Elland Road.
