Kickoff for the Texas Longhorns’ primetime game against the Georgia Bulldogs is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC this Saturday. Georgia is the fifth-ranked team in the USA, while Texas is the top-ranked team.
The Bulldogs are 5-1 on the season, while the Longhorns are 6-0. This can be a preview of the playoffs or the SEC Championship Game.
Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart spoke with the media on Monday about the team’s upcoming game against the Longhorns. Smart expressed to Sports Illustrated’s Zach Dimmitt how impressive the Texas Longhorns had been this season:
The most comprehensive team we’ve seen or encountered this year—and most likely in a number of years. They are unquestionably among the top teams in the nation when you consider their offensive, defensive, and special teams performances.
The type of football program that head coach Steve Sarkisian has developed for the Longhorns is demonstrated by this. This season, they dominated their road games against the Oklahoma Sooners and the Michigan Wolverines.
During the first six games of the NCAA football season, Texas has appeared to be in control. They may have a harder time against the Georgia Bulldogs, but Kirby Smart is aware that everyone is working against them.
Both Steve Sarkisian and Kirby Smart formerly served as assistant coaches for the Alabama Crimson Tide under Nick Saban. In an interview with the media, Smart also talked about his off-field friendship with Sarkisian. Kirby Smart stated:
Much admiration for Sark. You know, over the past few years, I’ve really gotten to know Sark. Every year, we go on a trip together, and I truly enjoy getting to know him. I also greatly like the work that he does.
In the SEC Conference, the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns are on their way to sustained success. In the past three seasons, Georgia has won two national titles, but Texas wants to return to its winning ways.
