Las Vegas Raiders Star DT Sends Bold Message Before 2024 Season

When the Las Vegas Raiders made the bold move to sign defensive tackle Christian Wilkins in NFL free agency, it was a move that completely changed the outlook for the defense.

There was already talent within the defensive unit for the Raiders, but Wilkins brings a much-needed aspect to the line.

Standing in at 6-foot-4 and 310 pounds, Wilkins will be the intimidating run-stopping presence in the middle of the line that the Las Vegas Raiders needed. He will also demand extra attention from offensive lines, freeing up pass-rusher Maxx Crosby to wreak havoc on the quarterback.

Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Wilkins is targeting a big-time year with his new team.

Las Vegas Raiders Star Christian Wilkins Sends Bold Message Before 2024 Season

In a quote shared by the Las Vegas Raiders’ official team website, Wilkins sent out a bold message ahead of the 2024 campaign.

“I’ve come a long way definitely since my rookie year in this league. I’ve seen so much, I’ve done a lot, and knowing that and just seeing how far I’ve come always just keeps me hungry. I’m just always trying to be my best, and now you kind of see what experience and wisdom does for you because then now when certain things go on, you’re not rattled, or you can impart that wisdom into a younger guys. I’m just blessed to be in the position I’m in and to be able to do that.”

Clearly, Wilkins is cherishing the new opportunity he finds himself in. He’s going to be a major impact player on the field, but his ability to be a leader for his teammates is going to be a major key as well.

It has been awhile since the Las Vegas Raiders were viewed as legitimate contenders. That is the goal that the franchise is working towards.

With the offseason moves that they made, they’re getting closer and closer to making that goal a reality.

During the 2023 season with the Miami Dolphins, Wilkins ended up recording 65 total tackles to go along with nine sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and two defended passes. Those numbers give a tease for Raiders fans about what he’ll bring to the field in 2024.

Expect to see Wilkins live up to the hype and the contract that he was given. The Raiders are going to be a much better all-around team with the star defensive lineman anchoring the front-end of the defense.
