Last month, there were rumors that Croker had received offers from Super League teams for 2025. Croker was off-contract at Newcastle after their 2024 season ended, and Rugby League Live was the first to disclose that he was available to Super League clubs.

Additionally, recent claims from Zero Tackle indicated that Castleford Tigers would be interested in hiring him. However, the rumors have been dispelled, since Croker is not expected to join the Super League anytime soon.

After agreeing to a one-year contract extension with Adam O’Brien’s team, the 25-year-old will stay in the NRL with the Knights until at least the conclusion of the following season.

Since being chosen for the 2014 development squad, Croker has been a part of the Knights system. He advanced through the grades until making his NRL debut in 2021, playing in 58 first-grade games so far, all for Newcastle.

“We are happy that Mat has decided to stay with the Knights longer,” Newcastle’s director of football, Peter Parr, said.

This year, he has displayed some of his best football skills.

Mat plays a significant role on and off the field and is an essential member of the team.

That someone of his caliber is still with the club makes us very happy.
