Rangers striker Danilo hasn’t been able to catch a break since a £6m move from Feyenoord last summer.
The Gers broke the bank to get the Brazilian hitman to Ibrox but the striker has since endured three severe injuries which have limited the hitman to few appearances.
First, the masked Danilo was welcomed to Scottish football with a bang after suffering a facial fracture in a clash that resulted in a goal against St Johnstone.
The former Ajax forward, who is naturalized for the Dutch national team, was sidelined until the beginning of this season due to a catastrophic knee injury that he sustained in December.
Danilo was once again knocked back just as he was starting to regain his best form, even scoring in the 6-0 thumping of Ross County.
Danilo was left out of Rangers’ Europa League team because of this most recent knee injury, which was thought to be so serious.
Philippe Clement is already anticipating the striker’s return to training, but can the Samba star be able to persuade Rangers fans that he has what it takes to fire them to glory this season
When the team returns from the international break, Philippe Clement has stated that he anticipates seeing Danilo back in first-team training.
The Rangers boss was speaking as he confirmed that Oscar Cortes will be sidelined for a lengthier period of time due to an injury sustained on the training field.
But Danilo is “expected” to return to Auchenhowie in the upcoming two weeks, along with Ridvan Yilmaz, who hasn’t been seen since the Champions League loss to Dynamo Kyiv.
I anticipate having Ridvan (Yilmaz) and Danilo in training,” Clement remarked.
Prior to his most recent knee injury, which has kept the striker out since the beginning of September, Danilo has made two appearances for Rangers this season.
Although Danilo’s return will be greeted with anxiety, Rangers desperately need a dependable finisher at the top end of the field given their frontline’s growing inconsistency.
This season, Rangers’ striking options are still being criticized.
Although Cyriel Dessers had a strong start to the season and has already scored seven goals, he has not scored in his previous four games.
Dessers was a dejected figure when he was substituted off against St Johnstone at Ibrox, and as a result, he was ignored by the Nigerian national team.
Hamza Igamane, a potential Moroccan striker, is also a member of Rangers’ roster, but the 21-year-old has not yet scored in Ibrox colors.
Rangers have a serious problem with consistent goal scoring at the top end of the field when you add in the team’s erratic out wide returns.
Given that Danilo cost £6 million, there is pressure on the unfortunate striker to start playing well and pay back the transfer outlay at Rangers right away.
It’s uncertain exactly when the striker will be able to contribute at Ibrox, though, since the team is cautious due to his persistent injury issues.
Hopefully, Danilo’s injury ordeal with Rangers will come to an end during the October international break and the striker starts delivering soon.
