Former Republic of Ireland footballer Anthony Stokes (36) has been imprisoned for 15 months for a seizure of over €4,000 worth of cocaine and a high-speed automobile chase in Dublin.
After drinking too much, the former Sunderland and Celtic footballer raced at 160 km/h and almost hit another car on January 6, 2023, just after midnight.
Judge Gráinne Malone of Dublin District Court jailed him on Tuesday on the revelation that he had recently failed a drug test.
About ten days after the traffic pursuit, the former football player entered another guilty plea to possession of 86 illicit street tablets in Cabinteely, south County Dublin, which the judge considered an aggravating element. She declined to impose any sentence suspension.
