Oscar Threlkeld poised to make Plymouth Argyle return in loan deal

The 24-year-old left Home Park last summer to sign for Belgian club Waasland-Beveren

Right-back Oscar Threlkeld is set to return to Plymouth Argyle on loan from Belgian top flight club Waasland-Beveren.

Plymouth Live understands a deal until the end of the season has been agreed in in principle, subject to a medical early next week.

Threlkeld signed a three-year contract with Waasland-Beveren last summer after rejecting the chance to extend his stay at Argyle.

However, he has played only twice for his new club, and both of those appearances were in August.

Since then, Waasland-Beveren have replaced head coach Yannick Ferrera with Adnan Custovic.

They are currently 14th out of the 16 teams in the Jupiler Pro League at the mid-winter break.

Waasland-Bevern have won only four of their 21 games and lost their last match 3-0 away to Anderlecht on December 27.

He spent much of the 2015/16 season on loan from Bolton Wanderers and then completed a permanent move that summer

Overall, Threlkeld made a total of 83 starts and 13 substitute appearances for the Pilgrims and scored three goals.

Argyle manager Derek Adams has yet to make a signing during the January transfer window.

A return for Threlkeld would be popular with the Green Army because he was a firm favourite with them.
