Midfielder Onyedinma rejoins Wycombe Wanderers

Wycombe Wanderers have re-signed midfielder Fred Onyedinma on a free transfer from Luton Town.

This will be the 27-year-old’s fourth time with the club, external, having had two previous loan spells and a permanent deal in July 2019.

After leaving the Chairboys to sign with Luton in 2021, he was part of the squad that helped Hatters achieve promotion into the top flight and made eight Premier League appearances last season.

He then spent the remainder of the season with Rotherham on loan, scoring two goals in his 16 Championship appearances.

Onyedinma started his senior football career with Millwall.

“Fred has been one of the standout performers in each of his three previous spells with Wycombe and we’re delighted that he’s agreed to come back and be part of the exciting squad that we are building here,” Wycombe manager Matt Bloomfield said.

“We’ve all been working extremely hard as a collective behind the scenes to continue to build this club. Fred is central to this.”

Wycombe, who currently sit 16th in the League One table, travel to Northampton Town on Saturday (12:30 BST).

Wycombe Wanderers manager Matt Bloomfield has revealed that he is going after “a couple more things” this summer. The Blues boss is happy with his business so far, but has admitted there is still work to be done.

The Chairboys have gone about their business quietly this summer, with the absurd amount of money being splashed out by Birmingham City really being the talk of League One.

Bloomfield is still hopeful to add a couple more players to his squad before the window slams shut at the end of August. Following a defeat to Swindon Town on Saturday, the 40-year-old said there were “a couple more things” he wanted to address before he was satisfied.

Bloomfield “always wants to be better”
