In an effort to raise the standard of education in the nation, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has released a revised professional standard for school leadership in basic and secondary education.
According to education minister Tahir Mamman, the standards offer a clear path for career advancement and institutional success by serving as a complete framework that supports and improves school leadership performance.
The demands placed on school leaders have never been higher, according to Mamman, who made this observation on Thursday in Abuja during the public unveiling of the professional standards for school leadership in Nigeria. According to him, the worldwide pandemic, technology breakthroughs, and growing societal expectations, and educational environment have been transformed, making visionary leadership more vital than ever.
According to the minister, the fundamental ideals of school leadership are reflected in the professional standards for school leadership, which include inclusive leadership, collaborative, inventive, and imaginative leadership, integrity and ethical leadership, and instructional leadership.
These guidelines are the result of a great deal of study, discussion, and cooperation. They represented the combined knowledge and perceptions of seasoned educators, decision-makers, and subject-matter specialists.
“We acknowledge that the process of developing leaders is continuous, and we commit to offering our leaders the tools, instruction, and assistance they need to meet and surpass these benchmarks.”
