Bo Nix returning to Oregon Ducks in 2023
Bo Nix is returning to Oregon in 2023.
The Ducks’ starting quarterback announced he is returning to UO for a second season, his fifth and final year in college football.
“There’s nothing like a Saturday in Autzen Stadium in front of the best fans in college football,” Nix said in a video announcing his return. “There’s nothing like playing for my coaches and going to battle with my teammates. There’s nothing like being an Oregon Duck. For 2023, I’m back.”
Nix enters the Holiday Bowl against North Carolina completing 71.5% of his passes, second nationally, for 3,388 yards, 27 touchdowns and six interceptions with 504 rushing yards and 14 scores and a touchdown reception for the No. 15 Ducks (9-3). A finalist for the Manning Award, Nix is tied for third among FBS players with 42 total touchdowns and one of just 12 players since 2000 to have at least 27 passing touchdowns and 14 rushing touchdowns in a season.
As a fourth-year junior whose eligibility would’ve been exhausted if not for the NCAA pausing eligibility clocks in 2020-21, Nix is automatically entered into this year’s NFL draft and has technically opted out of the draft in order to return to college. He passed on an invite to this year’s Senior Bowl as well, though Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy indicated the invitation will remain in place for Nix next year.
