The AFL Match Review has sent Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston straight to the Trinbunal for his late hit on Izak Rankine in the Showdown.

The review found his hit which knocked out the Crows star was careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.

In on-field action, after a chaotic Saturday of close games and upsets, Sunday’s AFL action was a little more straight-forward.

The Bulldogs, Hawks and Blues went into today all with a record of 12-9, and occupying seventh to ninth on the ladder.

The Dogs smashed the Kangaroos at Docklands, while the Hawks downed the Tigers at the MCG but are nervously awaiting scans on a collarbone injury to Will Day.

In the final game of the day, the Blues cruised to victory over West Coast in Perth.

So, that late breaking Tribunal news will no doubt dominate the headlines in the coming week.

But on the field today, three Victorian teams each took a big step towards clinching finals football for 2024.

We will be back next weekend to bring you the final round of home and away action — and in particular, make sure you have your device on you on Sunday, as Western Bulldogs vs GWS is followed by Carlton vs St Kilda, wrapping up with Fremantle vs Port Adelaide.

Who knows where we’ll be after those three games?

For now, I’m Andrew McGarry, thanking you for joining us on the blog, and I wish you a very good evening!
