Rumors regarding the 2024 NFL draft have started as the 2024 college football season draws to a close and fans focus on bowl games and the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff.
Among the most prominent names mentioned in the 2025 NFL draft are Travis Hunter, Cam Ward, and Shedeur Sanders. Even though a lot of fans are concentrating on the top three possibilities, there is a flier in the SEC who has been generating some buzz.
In the ReliaQuest Bowl, Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe might play in his final collegiate football game on December 31 at 12:00 ET against the Michigan Wolverines.
Milroe was the starting quarterback for two of his four years at Alabama, and there is a lot of conjecture that he may declare for the 2025 draft.
Milroe was predicted to join the Cleveland Browns in a recent mock draft by The Sporting News, where he might take Deshaun Watson’s spot as the AFC team’s starter going into the season.
After being traded by the Houston Texans in 2022, Watson has spent three seasons with the Browns. In order to ensure their long-term quarterback, Cleveland extended Watson’s contract after making the trade.
The 29-year-old and the Browns had previously agreed on a five-year, $230 million deal extension. He had 1,148 yards, three interceptions, five touchdowns, and a 63.4 completion % at the end of the 2024 season.
Earlier in the season, Watson suffered an Achilles injury that required him to miss time and have surgery to heal.
The Browns have turned to Jameis Winston as their quarterback in Watson’s absence. Cleveland is on a three-game losing streak and is at 3-11 on the season. Both on the ground and in the air, Milroe’s arrival would provide the Browns a huge offensive spark.
Milroe finished the 2024 collegiate football season with 2,652 yards, 15 touchdowns, and a 65.9 completion %. In addition, he ran for 719 yards and scored 20 touchdowns. Milroe guided the Crimson Tide to a 9-3 overall record, including a 5-3 SEC record.
