Grimsby Town injury list in full as James Hanson becomes latest player ruled out
The Mariners’ injury list continues to grow as Hanson becomes the latest name to be added to it – although some may be able to return soon
The bad news just keeps on coming for Grimsby Town, with their mounting injury problems showing no signs of abating.
James Hanson becomes the latest name to be added to the list, which seems to grow more and more with every passing game.
He joins Filipe Morais on there, after the winger found himself ruled out following the draw with Tranmere Rovers, while there are plenty of other players in the treatment room at the moment.
Jake Eastwood, Sam Habergham, Mattie Pollock and Sean Scannell are among those out at the moment, while Max Wright, Joe Bunney and Idris El Mizouni look to have had their seasons ended already.
Here’s Grimsby Town’s full injury list as it stands.
James Hanson
The striker becomes the latest name on the Mariners’ growing list, having missed the dramatic 2-2 draw at Mansfield.
The former Bradford City frontman is struggling with a groin problem, and is a major doubt for the must-win trip to Barrow.
The fact that it’s not his troublesome calf might just be a crumb of comfort to Hurst, although there’s no word yet on how serious the injury might be – fingers crossed he won’t be out for long.
Filipe Morais
The Portuguese winger is expected to be out for the next few games – at the very least, he’ll miss the trip to Cumbria.
Morais limped off during the goalless draw with Tranmere Rovers clutching his hamstring – never a good sign for a player.
Hurst has since confirmed it is indeed a hamstring problem, although hasn’t yet given a potential return date.
Jake Eastwood
The on-loan Sheffield United stopper looks set to be out for around another two weeks, having suffered a flare-up of a previous injury.
Thankfully, the Mariners do have a more-than-able replacement in club captain James McKeown, who has slotted straight back in and marked his return with back-to-back clean sheets.
Having been in good form though since making the temporary switch to Blundell Park, Eastwood will be a big miss for Town.
There’s no set return date yet for the goalkeeper, although at this stage the earliest game he might be back for looks to be against Bradford City on April 10.
Sam Habergham
Having gone down during the draw at Carlisle, there were obvious concerns for the defender, given his recent past.
Thankfully – in one sense – the injury turned out not to be his knee, which kept him out of action for nearly three years.
Instead, it was his thigh which was causing him problems, with the former Lincoln City man being sent away for a scan.
Habergham is expected to be out for at least another week with the injury, meaning the earliest he may return is likely to be the Good Friday clash with Salford City.
