Branson Robinson on his Return: “It’s Gonna be hell.”

Branson Robinson missed 2023 with a knee injury, but the former five-star back is ready to make his mark on Georgia football this fall.

With Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards off to the NFL, and Trevor Etienne’s potential suspension looming, Georgia’s running back depth chart is wide open.

One player who could pick up the slack is Branson Robinson. The redshirt sophomore had 341 yards on 68 rushes as a freshman in 2022 but suffered a PCL injury prior to last season. During a recent episode of The Players’ Lounge, Robinson was asked about where he’s at in his recovery.

“Don’t worry about the timeline,” said Robinson. “Just know, when I get back it’s gonna be hell.”

“It’s gonna be hell. To be honest, bro, I feel good now. Yeah, I feel I can go out there right now. But you know, taking it day by day, we’re not rushing anything. But don’t worry about the timeline. I’m talking to the people here. Don’t worry about anything like that. Just know, when Branson Robinson’s back, you’re gonna know I’m back.”

That’s encouraging news for Georgia fans. Robinson is a force at running back and a backfield that features him, Etienne, Roderick Robinson, Andrew Paul, Cash Jones, and some talented freshman could be among the best in the country.

That group will be led by new running backs coach Josh Crawford who came over from Georgia Tech when Dell McGee left Georgia to take the Georgia State head coach job. Robinson commented on that transition.

“It’s been tough man, but we learned to adjust to it. Luckily, the guy they have, the replacement, coach [Josh] Crawford. Great guy, like I really mess with Crawford. He’s real cool. But it was tough. It’s just , you have to realize, I mean, that’s college football. Coaches go level up. And that’s every coach’s dream to be a head coach.”
