According to insiders who spoke to Football Insider, Philippe Clement is “one match from the sack” as Rangers get ready for a managerial change following a terrible start to the season that has left them nine points behind Aberdeen and Celtic.

Senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that the club’s management has been taken aback by their dismal start to the season and that if Clement, 50, loses their League Cup semi-final match against Motherwell on Sunday (November 3), there will be “no way back.”

Rangers are far from the top two spots in the Scottish Premier League after losing 2-1 to Aberdeen on Wednesday, October 30, their second straight away loss.

It is believed that the club has decided that if they lose this weekend, the board will ultimately opt to terminate Clement’s employment.

Sam Lammers’ sale to FC Twente was a major factor in the Glasgow club’s £2.5 million recovery from its summer transfer window investment of just over £14 million in 10 new first-team players.

In the summer, Clement received a new four-year contract that extended his time at Ibrox until June 2028, in addition to being backed throughout the transfer window.

Philippe Clement is battling to keep his Rangers job.
Since taking over the team in October 2023, Clement’s tenure as Rangers manager has been his most successful, with a 68 percent victory percentage.

The team still trails Old Firm rivals Celtic both on and off the field, as evidenced by their most recent annual report, which showed an operational loss of £17.2 million.

With the Scottish League Cup, which he won just two months after taking over last season, Clement will be looking for some comfort in their match at Hampden Park on Sunday.

They then play Greek powerhouse Olympiacos in another difficult Europa League test before playing Hearts in the Scottish Premier League on November 10.

In other news, an expert says that Rangers supporters had a crucial role in Philippe Clement’s dismissal.
