Tuesday night’s 11-4 victory in Game 4 allowed the New York Yankees to maintain their hopes of winning the World Series. Even though it was a big win for the team, two supporters who were expelled after removing a foul ball from Mookie Betts’ glove stand out as one of the most memorable moments.

In case you missed it, Betts reached over the wall in foul territory in right field to make a terrific catch in the first inning. Betts’ glove and other hand were swiftly grabbed by two spectators, who eventually tore the ball from him.

Following their ejection, ESPN interviewed Austin Capobianco and John Peter, two supporters, at a nearby bar, where they gave an absurd justification for their actions.

We always joke about the ball in our area, said Capobianco, 38, who was responsible for removing the ball from Betts’ glove. “We won’t intentionally launch an attack. If it occurs in our region, we will ‘D’ up. Someone knocks the ball, someone protects. We discuss it. We are prepared to accomplish this.

‘Boys, I’m out of here.’ I know when I’m wrong, and I did it right away. They are aware that I patrol that wall.

After the game, Betts didn’t want to discuss the strange event too much.

When it comes to the person in play, it doesn’t matter,” Betts stated. “We were defeated. It doesn’t matter. I’m all right. He’s all right. It’s all cool. I’m sort of focused on the fact that we lost the game. It’s time to move on and prepare for tomorrow.

Yankee Stadium will host Game 5 on Wednesday night. Season ticket holder Capobianco claimed he was informed they would be permitted to go.
