Metallica announces Aussie tour with Evanescence, Suicidal Tendencies
After smacking the former Metallica vocalist over, James Hetfield admitted, “I couldn’t tolerate it any longer.”
It’s been more than 10 years since the band has toured Australia.
Metal giants Metallica will be stopping Down Under as part of their M72 world tour, marking their first Aussie shows in more than 10 years.
The band, known for hits Master of Puppets and Enter Sandman, are set to perform five shows across Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney in November 2025.
The rockers will be bringing along Evanescence — with hits Bring Me To Life and Going Under — as well as Suicidal Tendencies, best known for their hit Institutionalized.
The tour will mark the first time Metallica will hit Aussie shores since the 2013 Soundwave festival, where they headlined along with Linkin Park and Blink-182.
It follows a cancelled Australian stadium tour in 2019, with lead singer and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield having undergone rehab for addiction.
“As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years,” a statement at the time read.
“He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.
“We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.”
The band will play Perth’s Optus Stadium on November 1 next year, followed by Adelaide Oval on November 5, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on November 8, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on November 12, Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 15, and Eden Park in Auckland on November 19
