Have you ever wondered if the demon, starchild, spaceman, and cat makeup designs were created by the original Kiss members? For the most part, it appears that Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Peter Criss all did.
However, Frehley revealed an intriguing fact in a conversation with the Guitar Tales Podcast: he might have contributed to Stanley’s design. It would have happened when the band was still performing in bars in the New York metropolitan region.
According to Ultimate Guitar, Frehley stated, “Very few people are aware of this, and he’ll likely deny it, but when we were playing the Daisy in Long Island, it was a club where we developed our makeup. He had a white face with red lipstick, and he used to have a circle around his eye like the dog from ‘The Little Rascals’.”
And I was rather pleased with the silver stars that I had created. Gene’s makeup was also progressing rather nicely. Peter required some assistance. However, one evening I told Paul, “Why don’t you put a star in place of the circle.
He gave it a try and found it enjoyable, but he never gave me credit for it. He has never told me about that event in an interview, and if someone brought it up to him now, he would most likely deny it. His ego is as big as [Manhattan].
Frehley raised the question of whether Simmons and Stanley are actually happy during the same conversation. If it’s a cover-up, that is.
I don’t think those folks are all that happy. Find out how many images or videos of Paul Stanley laughing you can find online. There are dozens of me, yet there isn’t much.
I make an effort to socialize and engage in activities that bring me joy. ‘Look, if you have nothing positive to say about someone, don’t say anything,’ my father used to tell me. In contrast, Paul and Gene are always making advances on not just Peter and me but also other people in other bands. It’s also superfluous.I make an effort to socialize and engage in activities that bring me joy. ‘Look, if you have nothing positive to say about someone, don’t say anything,’ my father used to tell me.
