After 12 minutes that evening, Beth opened her account with a flawless control and finish from Lucy Bronze’s pass. Two minutes later, our forward doubled the Lionesses’ lead by getting on the end of a cross from Ella Toone. Two minutes later, Lauren Hemp scored, and Georgia Stanway doubled to make it 5-0 at the half.
Stanway then completed her hat-trick from the spot on 52 minutes. Toone picked up England’s sixth goal to go with her hat-trick of assists, before Alessia Russo slid home her latest goal to give the Lionesses their biggest ever win at Wembley.
Chloe Kelly came on in the second half of the contest, replacing Hemp at the interval, alongside Lotte Wubben-Moy, who came on for Esme Morgan. With 15 minutes remaining, Taylor Hinds, also featured, swapping with Lucy Bronze.
Elsewhere, Katie McCabe played 84 minutes in Ireland’s narrow victory over Hungary in Marbella, Spain. Katie came off for Tara O’Hanlon as goals from Abbie Larkin, Kyra Carusa and Denise O’Sulivan gave Carla Ward’s side the win.
Away from the senior sides, Jessie Gale found the net for England under-20s in a 4-1 loss against the USA in Spain.
Substitute Jessie, currently on loan at Portsmouth after signing a professional contract this summer, netted a late consolation in the defeat.
