After 12 minutes that evening, Beth opened her account with a flawless control and finish from Lucy Bronze’s pass. Elsewhere, Katie McCabe played 84 minutes in Ireland’s narrow victory over Hungary in Marbella, Spain. Katie came off for Tara O’Hanlon as goals from Abbie Larkin, Kyra Carusa and Denise O’Sulivan gave Carla Ward’s side the win.
Away from the senior sides, Jessie Gale found the net for England under-20s in a 4-1 loss against the USA in Spain.
Substitute Jessie, currently on loan at Portsmouth after signing a professional contract this summer, netted a late consolation in the defeat.
Laila Harbert, on loan at Portland Thorns, started the contest alongside Cecily Wellesley-Smith, who is on loan at Leicester City.
Vivienne Lia came on for Jane Oboavwoduo after just 11 minutes, with goalscorer Gale coming for teammates Wellseley-Smith on 75 minutes. Sophie Harwood was an unused substitute.
