This year, Michigan football and Ohio State will square off in “The Game,” with a trip to the Big Ten championship game and a possible college football postseason trip up for grabs. The governors and lieutenant governors of the two neighboring Midwest states each placed a friendly wager for their local team because of the intense rivalry between them.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer stated in a press release, “As the mother of two Wolverines, I know Michigan will bring strength, grit, and championship swagger to The Game.” “As we support the leaders and the best in the biggest game of the year, I urge every Michigander to wear blue and maize.” I have no doubt that the Wolverines will defeat that southern institution for the fifth consecutive year. “Go Blue!”
Gov. Whitmer bet on Michigan-made potato chips. These consist of Downey’s Potato Chips from Waterford, Great Lakes Potato Chips from Traverse City, and Better Made chips from Detroit. Mike DeWine, the governor of Ohio, bet on Ohio-made potato chips. These include Mikesell’s, Jones’ Potato Chips from Mansfield, Grippo’s from Cincinnati, and Conn’s Potato Chips from Zanesville.
