Even though it didn’t include the Phoenix Suns, the first night of the 2025–26 NBA regular season was still interesting. There was something for everyone in this double-overtime classic between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Additionally, it was a welcome reminder that, yes, Kevin Durant still one of the world’s greatest players.

It is evident that the Rockets have assembled a group that can compete in the Western Conference, even though Durant, Alperen Sengun, and Amen Thompson rightfully received the most of the credit for their performance, but Reed Sheppard most definitely did not. Additionally, they have devious depth, and if you check at the end of their bench, you’ll see a former Sun who is already contributing to their defense.

Josh Okogie has found a home in Houston.

The news that Josh Okogie is now with the Rockets was lost in the shuffle of the first game back on NBC/Peacock. As you may recall, Okogie was traded to the Charlotte Hornets last season in order for the Suns to acquire Nick Richards and strengthen their center rotation. They would undoubtedly love to have this talent join their Eastern franchise.
