Josh Fraser, Collingwood’s head of development, has accepted a post as assistant coach at the Carlton Football Club. Fraser returned to Collingwood in 2023 as Head of Development and Senior VFL Coach after coaching stints at Gold Coast and Carlton. This season was crucial in spearheading the Club’s player development program and fostering the development of its young players.
Apart from his position as Head of Development, Fraser played a crucial part this season in assisting Scott Selwood in coaching the AFL team’s forward line while Selwood was away. Fraser was the Club’s first-ever number one draft pick in 1999, which is when he first became associated with the black and white. Before concluding his career at the Gold Coast SUNS, he played 200 games for Collingwood.
“Josh has an incredibly close connection to the Club, as a past player and a coach. He is highly respected at our Club, and we are grateful for the significant impact he has made to the Club since he returned to coach in 2023,” Gardiner said. “Josh has been a fantastic mentor to our younger players and an important member of our coaching department. His care, work ethic and dedication to his role have been an asset to our AFL program. “We thank Josh and his family for their contribution to Collingwood and wish him all the best for the future.” Current Development Coach Neville Jetta will transition from the AFL program to become NGA First Nations and Multicultural Lead within the Club’s Future Magpies team.
