Newfoundland and Labrador curler Brad Gushue a two-time Olympic medallist who has won more national men’s curlling championships than anybody else in the sport has announced he will retire from competitive curling at the end of his next season. Gushue announced the news in a social media video on Wednesday, stating that he wanted to spend more time with his family and that he had accomplished the athletic goals he had set for himself. “I consider myself to be one of the fortunate few who may declare that they have accomplished them. I feel confident enough to make this decision today because of that. “To depart with no regrets, no unresolved challenge, and no unfulfilled expectation,” Gushue stated.
Gushue now skips with Olympic Gold medallist Mark Nichols, second Brendan Bottcher, and lead Geoff Walker. On Thursday at 2 p.m. NT, the team will address reporters. Starting on February 27, Gushue’s last Brier will be held in St. John’s.
