Ohio State football’s Jeremiah Smith sets new freshman mark for receiving yards in game
Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has broken yet another Buckeyes freshman record.
With his 187 yards today, he has passed the previous single-game mark of 172 set by Cris Carter in a Jan. 1, 1985 Rose Bowl matchup with USC
Despite Carter’s nine-catch, one-touchdown performance, the Buckeyes fell to the No. 18 Trojans that day, 20-17.
Smith also holds the OSU freshman records for receiving yards in a season (1,224), receiving touchdowns in a season (14), and receptions (70).
This afternoon, as Ohio State leads Oregon 34-15 in the third quarter of the Rose Bowl, Smith has seven catches and two touchdowns.
