Michael Maguire has quickly established himself as a fixture for the Brisbane Broncos. Two months after their disastrous season ended, the Broncos are back to training under their new coach in hopes of making a comeback in 2025.

Following Kevin Walters’ dismissal in September, Maguire was appointed coach, and everything is set up for the new Red Hill manager.

Young players and those on train-and-trial contracts joined the training paddock when preseason training got underway for many NRL teams, including the Broncos, in early November.

Payne Haas and Selwyn Cobbo, two other senior players, returned to begin preseason training.

In an attempt to leave his mark on the Broncos’ training standards, Maguire, a notoriously strict task master, put them through their paces during the first week of preseason training.

The Courier Mail claims that the sight of vomit buckets positioned around training, including on exercise cycles, raised eyebrows at the NRL, as players were observed perspiring profusely.
