After scoring the game-winning goal against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday, Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United, reaffirmed his happiness at being a member of the North East team.
In the first half, Anthony Gordon’s cross was blasted home by the Swedish striker, who climbed highest to score the game’s lone goal. Declan Rice had the Gunners’ best chances in the second half, with one effort deflecting wide and his header crashing painfully wide of the far post.
Even at this early juncture in the season, Mikel Arteta’s team has a mountain to climb as Liverpool’s victory puts them seven points behind the leaders, while Manchester City also lost over the weekend. Arsenal’s lackluster attacking threat at St. James’ Park served as yet another reminder that they must acquire a striker in order to pose a significant threat in the fight for the championship.
Isak has consistently shown no interest in leaving Newcastle anytime soon, despite being one of the players linked to a move to North London. He demonstrated that once more on Saturday when he took to social media to celebrate defeating Arsenal.
He wrote: “Three big points and a brilliant atmosphere today.” in a post on Instagram. A number of photos showing the supporters and teammates Gordon and Joelinton celebrating were included with the article.
Despite Isak’s immense talent, there is a strong bond between him and Newcastle that would be difficult to sever during the transfer window. Regretfully, there aren’t many elite strikers available for Arsenal to buy.
