In Newcastle United’s 1-0 victory at St. James’ Park on Saturday, Alexander Isak scored the game’s lone goal, demonstrating to Arsenal what they’re missing.
Since before he moved to Newcastle from Real Sociedad for £63 million in 2022, Isak has been a long-term target for Arsenal. Since then, the Swede has made 77 appearances for Newcastle and scored 39 goals.
Isak has a contract with Newcastle that expires in 2028, but with negotiations for a new contract delaying during the summer and the team not playing in Europe, there has been considerable discussion on Tyneside recently over the striker’s long-term future. Isak, who scored three goals in as many games for Newcastle against Arsenal and Chelsea, has been linked to a move to both teams to those two sides in the space of six days
The Arsenal manager, however, quickly put an end to the inquiry by saying, “No.” I wouldn’t trade any of my players for anyone else because I adore them all.
Isak told TNT Sports after Newcastle’s victory, “That was massive, against a big team.” For the fans, winning this game is really important.
“I have to jump and put my head on the ball because Anthony Gordon’s cross for the goal was so incredible. Kudos to him for that.
“It’s important to take the risk.” It is a challenging challenge because of Arsenal’s formidable defense, but I’m glad we were able to score and maintain a clean sheet.”
