Football Insider has been informed by sources that Alexandro Bernabei, a defender for Celtic, is “unlikely to play for the club again.”
After a dismal 18 months at Celtic, senior journalist Pete O’Rourke stated on the most recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that the 24-year-old “doesn’t have a long-term future” at the team.
The left-back, who won the Scottish Premier League in 2022–2023 but only made 29 appearances in one and a half seasons, found it difficult to create an impression in Glasgow.
Currently on loan with Internacional of Brazil, Bernabei has found his form again, making 28 appearances in all competitions and dishing up three goals and three assists.
Brendan Rodgers is reportedly skeptical of reintegrating him into the team despite his recent improvement in play.
Celtic no longer has Alexandro Bernabei in their plans.
In an apparent move away from Bernabei, the Scottish champions signed Alex Valle on loan from Barcelona to challenge Greg Taylor, their first-choice left-back.
When the Argentinian returns from his loan in January, Rodgers’ team will attempt to recover a portion of the £4 million they spent on him back in 2022.
After an incredible season, Bernabei and Internacional are currently in fifth place with seven games remaining in the Brazilian top league.
Celtic is leading and aiming to win the league for the fourth consecutive season with nine victories, one draw, and no losses in their first ten games.
In other developments, Caoimhin Kelleher will join Celtic: The acquisition’s final cost is revealed by O’Rourke.
