Admitting his mistakes is a sign of a true guy. Colin Cowherd has done that, regardless of your opinion of him. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ current situation was one of Cowherd’s main concerns before the 2024 NFL season.

I believe I was mistaken about Pittsburgh. On Thursday’s Colin Cowherd Podcast, Cowherd stated, “We’ve always thought he’s incredible, but I think what Mike Tomlin has shown over the course of this season — and I’m wrong on this — is that I always felt he was a little tone-deaf to offense.

However, I believe that by choosing Russell Wilson over Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, and Justin Fields—all of whom had winning records—he is more astute than I initially thought.

Cowherd went on to explain that Tomlin is aware of the gravity of the situation, but he knows defensive coaches can have trouble with quarterback urgency. He gives Tomlin his fair share of roses for taking a stand that the media and many Steelers supporters opposed.

Even if they were winning, I believe it’s difficult for coaches to make adjustments when they’re winning. We’re four and two; I won’t disturb the locker room, so it’s not like you’re going to do that. For a pair to enter and say, Guys, we should be five and one, Mike Tomlin must be at four and two. This team is not as good as ours.

Although Wilson isn’t the same person he once was, Cowherd and Steelers Nation are aware of his potential. Cowherd believes the Steelers can win the division, despite his small preference for the Baltimore Ravens.

When division rivals face off, records are tossed out the window, even though the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns aren’t who we thought they were.

With Tomlin in charge and Wilson getting better, the Steelers have a difficult task ahead of them to emerge from the game uninjured and headed to the playoffs.
