Billy Napier, the head coach of Florida, discussed running back Trevor Etienne’s decision to transfer to Georgia.
This weekend, Georgia and Florida will compete in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party in Jacksonville, Florida, as part of their yearly neutral site rivalry. The Gators defeated Kentucky in their most recent game, while the Bulldogs are coming off a resounding victory against the Texas Longhorns.
During their media preview on Monday, Kirby Smart and Billy Napier were questioned about one of their former players who is currently playing for Georgia. After spending two seasons at Florida, running back Trevor Etienne decided to move to Georgia this past offseason. Napier was questioned about Etienne’s choice.
“You move on to the next one,” Napier said. “We’ve done what we need to do at running back…I couldn’t be more proud of the guys we have there.”
Etienne has 422 running yards, seven touchdowns, and an average of 5.1 yards per carry this season at Georgia. In the receiving game, he has also added 130 yards. The former Gator is currently on track to set career highs of 844 yards and 14 touchdowns by the end of the regular season.
Additionally, this is not the first time that players will be competing against their old squad. Both defensive back Jalen Kimber and defensive lineman Brenton Cox transferred to Florida following their time with the Bulldogs.
