One crucial choice involving Exhibit 10 guard Quincy Olivari had to be made as the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason was coming to a close. Olivari’s impressive preseason play sparked a serious discussion about obtaining a two-way contract, but the organization’s three spots were already taken.

But general manager Rob Pelinka and the team made the decision to fire Colin Castleton and make the 23-year-old a two-way player.

When Olivari performed well in front of his idol, Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry, the purple and gold’s preseason finale was emotional for him. Notably, Lakers great Magic Johnson shared encouraging remarks on social media after catching a glimpse of his postgame interview:

It must feel unreal to earn a two-way deal, meet Curry, and now hear Johnson discuss Olivari’s personality and skill set. This makes for a hectic couple of days, but it’s a series of things he will always remember.

When asked how he felt after seeing Johnson’s tweet, the former Xavier product said he was grateful that the icon was speaking out about him through Dave
“Meant a lot, a legend, and then that’s a big name to have a co-sign from for the Lakers.” I was merely going through my phone while I was actually unpacking. “Oh, thanks, Magic,” I said. I knew that if I replied, he wouldn’t see that I liked the tweet. However, I most certainly

While coming in as an Exhibit 10 guard and working his way into a two-way contract is undoubtedly an accomplishment, Olivari’s approach is sound since he recognizes that he must continue to establish his worth in order to be retained.

In any case, it is astounding to witness the outpouring of support from supporters and now-legendary players like Curry and Johnson.

Stephen Curry acknowledges Quincy Olivari, a rookie for the Lakers.

Many players find it difficult to break into the NBA, much less pursue it as a profession. It’s amazing that Quincy Olivari has come this far, and to top it off, during Friday’s preseason game, his favorite player, Stephen Curry, gave him a shoutout on social media.
