Dan Keir, the Parramatta Eels forward, has resolved on his immediate future by signing a new contract until the 2025 NRL season.According to sources who requested anonymity, Keir has re-signed with the Eels on a development contract for the 2025 NRL season.

The contract extension comes after he appeared in six NRL matches off the bench in 2024, making his first-grade debut against the Melbourne Storm in Round 21, and another 19 in the NSW Cup.

Keir’s debut, primarily in the back row or at lock, was one of the season’s feel-good stories and the definition of hard effort, having played in the NSW Cup since 2019 for The Mounties – Canberra Raiders’ feeder club – and the Eels.

He is also the son of former Canberra Raiders , Sydney Roosters, and North Sydney Bears winger Steve Keir, who played 17 games from 1983 to 1987.

The 26-year-old, who represented Australia’s Schoolboys in 2016, will try to add to his career tally next season as the Eels embark on a new era under incoming head coach Jason Ryles.

Keir will be hungry to compete for a spot in the forwards after Reagan Campbell-Gillard, Makhaesi Makatoa, and Ofahiki Ogden all leave the team.
