With almost 500 professional officiating appearances, 285 of which were in the Premier League of England, including every major cup final, Moss brings a wealth of expertise to the table.
The Englishman most recently worked for the Scottish Football Association as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Manager.
As part of his position with Football Australia, Moss will be in charge of the development programs for match officials, the application of officiating best practices, the improvement of professionalism and accountability among referees, the better integration of technology into match officiating, and the development of stronger bonds between referees, clubs, and other stakeholders.
Moss declared, “I’m thrilled to join Football Australia and help the game grow in this nation.”
In order to ensure that Australian football continues to flourish and achieve international respect, my mission is to raise the bar for referees at all levels, from amateur to A-League competitions.
“Jon is the perfect candidate to lead our refereeing department because of his extensive global experience at the highest levels of football officiating and his deep understanding of the modern game,” FA CEO James Johnson continued.
“His appointment demonstrates our dedication to creating an elite football ecosystem in Australia.”
