We are happy to announce that Marcelo Montoya, a hard-running, meter-eating winger, has joined the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs for a two-year contract.
After spending four seasons overseas in New Zealand, where he made 82 appearances for the Warriors and scored 30 tries, the 28-year-old is back in Belmore.
A proud graduate of the Club’s Pathways system, Montoya made his NRL debut in 2017 and won the Club’s Rookie of the Year award after progressing from the Harold Matthews Cup to the National Youth Competition.
He has scored 19 tries in 54 NRL games thus far while playing for the Bulldogs.
Ahead of the 2025 season, Phil Gould AM, general manager of football, praised the inclusion of the Bankstown Bulls junior to the team.
Gould remarked, “Bringing a local junior home is always pleasing.”
When it comes to his behavior on and off the field, Marcelo is incredibly passionate. As he embarks on this next phase of his career with the Bulldogs, his expertise and versatility in the backline will undoubtedly benefit our team.
For the 2025 preseason, Montoya will join the NRL team in November.
