Love completed his day with four touchdown throws, including two to Doubs, one to Watson, and another to second-year wide receiver Jayden Reed.
Love’s effort with four touchdowns was noteworthy for two reasons. In the first place, he has more than four-touchdown games this season, making him the only quarterback in the NFL. Considering that he missed two games due to an MCL sprain, this is very amazing.
Love also became the first Packers quarterback to throw four touchdown passes in consecutive home games since Brett Favre, who did so 29 years ago. Naturally, this indicates that Aaron Rodgers was never able to achieve this feat.
In his first game back from injury, Love threw four touchdowns (and three interceptions) in the Packers’ Week Four loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Love tossed four additional touchdowns against the Cardinals on Sunday after leading the team to victory on the road against the Los Angeles Rams the previous week (he had two touchdowns in that game).
The fact that Love reached a touchdown milestone that Green Bay hasn’t seen since Favre is kind of amusing. Fans anticipated that after three years of watching Rodgers, he would pick up some of the qualities of the future Pro Football Hall of Famer, such as handling the ball carefully and refraining from dangerous throws.
Love, however, seems to have a lot of Favre in him. Fans compared him to the Packers great after he sent a 53-yard bomb to Reed against the Rams, but quarterbacks coach Tom Clements gave him a zero-grade for the high-risk pass.
By stretching his body as he hit the ground, Doubs was able to make adjustments and convert the pass into a touchdown. It was a fantastic play that undoubtedly brought back memories of Favre’s time in Green Bay at center.
