The only player still playing in the NFL this season is Haason Reddick.
The agreement between Reddick’s previous agency, CAA, and the New York Jets “almost worked out,” according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
According to sources, there came a time this season when everyone thought the standoff would end [and] that Haason Reddick would enter the picture. According to what I’ve been told, the Jets offered a compelling one-year offer that would have not only compensated for the fines but also enabled Haason Reddick to earn significantly more than the $14.25 million he was expected to earn this season. Reddick rejected that, preferring a multi-year contract, Rapoport disclosed on “The Insiders.”
Since his first news conference on April 1, Reddick has not been present with the club. The former Pro Bowl player has lost a lot of money as a result of that choice.
When you include Reddick’s fines and lost game checks, he has lost $12.2 million through the first five games of this season.
According to the New York Post, he “stands to lose up to $21.75 million” if he waits out the entire 2024 season.
In the final year of the $45 million contract he had signed as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Reddick was only expected to earn $14.25 million this season.
Even though Reddick and the Jets seem to be at odds, it would be wise for him to finally report to the team. If he doesn’t report, he will lose all of that money in fines and his contract will expire in 2025.
With the Jets retaining Reddick’s rights into the upcoming season, we would have to repeat this whole thing. Rapoport said he has to report by Week 13 if he doesn’t want that to occur.
According to Rapoport, Reddick needs to report by Week 13 in order to obtain an accrued season.
The Jets will then have six games left in the regular season. In Week 12, the green and white enjoy a bye.
Nathaniel Hackett will move up to the booth and Todd Downing, the new Jets play-caller, will walk down to the sideline for Monday Night Football’s Week 6 Bills matchup, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero.
Hackett is still just referred to as offensive coordinator. Downing has assumed responsibility for personnel usage and play-calling.
The Jets and the Raiders are still negotiating a trade for Davante Adams. NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported that “one connected source involved said it sort of feels like Jets or bust right now.”
On Saturday, October 12, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter provided an update on Adams. It implied that Adams may remain in Las Vegas in a practical way.
According to sources cited by CBS NFL Insider Jonathan Jones, the Raiders are “bluffing” with that statement. Theoretically, Las Vegas might be claiming that to up the price of Adams.
