Monochrome is the key to Margot Robbie’s most recent maternity ensemble. As she promoted her movie Barbie, audiences became used to seeing her wearing everything pink, but she has typically made her pregnancy appearances a little more understated.

She wore one of the most controversial shoes of the year with her practical pregnancy ensemble when she was spotted yesterday in Los Angeles, dressed in almost fifty shades of gray.

Robbie accessorized a cozy-looking black sweater with a scalloped accent and a long, maxi-length gray dress with polarized mesh flats. After making their runway debuts at labels like Miu Miu, The Row, and Alaïa, the shoes were trendy this year; however, several more reasonably priced brands have provided substitutes.

It’s unclear if they’re useful for regular people, who have more walking to do than the distance between a car and an office building, even though celebrities like Robbie have made them a street style mainstay. Robbie added a gold chain necklace, square-framed sunglasses, and a large hobo bag to complete her ensemble.

Margot may be ready to take maternity leave any day now, but it was recently announced that she’d be playing Catherine Earnshaw in a new adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. Fans of the novel are scratching their heads, however, as the character is 19 years old in the book and Robbie is 34. She’ll be starring opposite Jacob Elordi and the two will be led by director Emerald Fennell, who also worked with Elordi on Saltburn.

In addition to Robbie’s age, fans are pointing out that Heathcliff, Elordi’s character, is described as having dark hair, eyes, and skin. Other critics pointed out that Fennell may not be doing a direct adaptation and that audiences should wait and see what the Oscar-winning director has in store for the classic story. The movie is set to begin production in 2025. Robbie’s next film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey from South Korean director Kogonada, is set to hit theaters in May 2025.
