Winner of the China Open Coco Gauff addressed a person on X after being called out for having a “childish mentality.” With a decisive 6-1, 6-3 victory over Karolina Muchova on Sunday, the American won her second WTA 1000 title.
The 2023 US Open champion won her eighth WTA victory, particularly in her first competition without Brad Gilbert, her former coach. After taking first place, Gauff posted a joyful picture on her Instagram stories and poked fun at the trolls: “Well, she was on the 250s. WOMP WOMP.
But not everyone responded well to Gauff’s post. The image was uploaded on X by user @hazvlou, who said, “I’m sorry, Coco has the mentality of a 5-year-old.”
To everyone’s amazement, Gauff responded to the post directly: “Children really do have the best attitude on life. They are so imaginative and upbeat. I’ll accept it, then (love emoji). Since childhood is when life is most enjoyable, I wanted to play and enjoy tennis as much as I did during this tournament.
“I also adore you! “I’m not feeling well and putting off packing,” the 2023 US Open champion remarked. “To avoid wasting too much time on it, I use it on the website instead of the app, but every now and then I like to stop by and see what’s going on lol.”
