After calling former Kiss guitarist Justin Hawkins “a cunt” on the Monsters of Rock cruise, Ace Frehley maintains he has no hard feelings towards Hawkins.
Performances by both guys took place during the March 2–7 tournament. KK’s Priest, Joe Satriani, and Quiet Riot were among the other performers on the schedule. Conversation started when Frehley was late for one of his performances, delaying the Darkness, who were pursuing him.
When Hawkins eventually took the stage, he started, “Let me tell you a little story.” You’ll see that when I perform, I wear a watch. Some of you believe… “He needs to be mindful of the time since he wants to return to the dressing room and finish the prawn sandwiches.” That has some truth to it. However, I believe that being on time is what makes rock and roll so vital.
We were late to the stage because someone overran. The frontman proceeded, first announcing that he was “not going to name any names.” “I apologize to all of you,” he said.
I believe that finding certain of their rider criteria in the middle of the fucking Caribbean can be a little challenging. Wig adhesive being one of those. Declaring, Hawkins then revealed, “I’m talking about Ace Frehley.”
With a resounding declaration, Hawkins ended his tirade: “I don’t give a fuck if you’re the biggest rock star in the world.” You are a cunt; you bring the Darkness late.
Speaking with Matt Wardlaw of UCR, Frehley disclosed that following Hawkins’ outburst, the two became friends.
He’s completely crazy. He’s a very humorous man. When speaking about the frontman of Darkness, Frehley said, “He just says crazy stuff out of left field.” “Justin approached me, expressed regret, and we shook hands. We had just been discussing my record and his stuff. We exchanged some small talk. He’s a really kind man.
It appears that the good feelings are reciprocated because Hawkins has talked highly of Frehley’s most recent CD on his show.
“Whatever he said (on the cruise) that might have come off as off-color, I just let that slide,” Frehley added. “Because I am aware that he genuinely adores the record. So i just said i want to be friends with this guy
