Ola Aina, the full defender for the Super Eagles, is in talks to get his contract extended, according to Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, according to Soccernet.ng.

The 27-year-old signed a one-year contract with the option to extend for an additional year when he left Torino to join Nottingham Forest on a free transfer in 2022.

The former Chelsea player will remain at the City Ground until the end of this summer because the extension provision was activated at the end of the previous season.

The drawback for Forest is that, when the winter transfer window opens in January, Aina can freely sign pre-contract agreements with other teams.

The coach of the team disclosed that the two-time UEFA Champions League winners intend to extend the versatile full-back’s contract in order to avoid this.

“Since joining us, Ola Aina has been outstanding, and we’re excited to ensure his future with the team.” Before Forest’s journey to Stamford Bridge, where they will play Chelsea tomorrow, Nuno Espirito Santo stated in his pregame press conference.

All I can say is that I’m content right now at Forest. Wonderful group; we’re still developing and I feel at home. With what the club is creating, I’m patient. Let’s wait and see what occurs later.

Chelsea is now two points behind league leaders Liverpool in fourth place in the English Premier League. Considering their past performance against Nottingham Forest—winning four and losing just one—they have the upper hand in this matchup.
