Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III is returning to the court for the first time since a patellar dislocation injury during the 2023-24 season. Soon after, he underwent surgery and missed the full year. He was cleared for training camp on Monday, and the Blazers will see him return to the court. Thanks to that wonderful news, Jayson Tatum, the star of the Boston Celtics, who was once his teammate, posted a supportive message for Williams on social media.

“Happy to see my brother back in action!”

Beat reporter with the Blazers Sean Highkin echoed Williams’s feelings regarding his comeback.

I’m at a fantastic place at the moment. Seven months has been a long time. a protracted defense. Man, I’m eager to return to the court. I’m grinning, as you can see. I was unable to walk for a while.

In October 2023, Williams was dealt to the Portland Trail Blazers. For Jrue Holiday, he received two future firsts, Malcolm Brogdon, and him. Williams’ two most recent seasons have saw him participate in just 41 games.

When the Celtics added Jrue Holiday, it was a wise decision.

DJ Foster of ClutchPoints rated the Celtics an A- for the transaction, but not everyone thought it was the greatest choice after the dust settled on the Holiday trade.

“Holiday is a fantastic match for Boston, who needed a point-of-attack defender badly this offseason after trading Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies. There aren’t many better in the league defensively than Holiday, who can replace much of what was lost in the Smart trade while providing a much steadier hand offensively. Holiday’s decision-making will be helpful for a team that has suffered with turnovers over the years, and his ability to create for Brown and Tatum should help the dynamic tandem get easier buckets.
