Rangers have benefited from Dujon Sterling’s signing of a one-year contract extension at Ibrox.
The former Chelsea player signed a four-year contract that will keep him in Glasgow until at least 2027, but he didn’t join the Light Blues until the beginning of last season. But because of his adaptability, the 24-year-old has shown to be a valuable member of the team. Current manager Philippe Clement has used him in a number of roles, and Sterling has now been rewarded with an improved contract at Ibrox.
In his 36 appearances during his rookie campaign, the Englishman managed just one goal, which he scored in the 2-2 Europa League draw against Benfica. Despite his injury problems, he has made ten appearances this season.
“It is good to get it over the line,” Sterling said on the club website following the signing of his new contract. It’s apparent that I’m proud. The club gave me a reward because they felt my performances from the previous season were good, and for me, this season is all about improving on that. It encourages me even more to strive to accomplish more. I wish to return the favor now that I’ve received the gift.”
“We are thrilled that Dujon has committed his future to the club,” Clement continued. In the short time since I joined the team, he has developed into an essential member of the squad, demonstrating his versatility in a number of roles and consistently being prepared for the group. We’re going to keep pushing him to reach his full potential because we know he will continue to make a significant contribution to the team.”
