The NY Jets defeated the New England Patriots 24-3 on Thursday, but without defensive captain C.J. Mosley. After sustaining a toe injury early in the team’s Week 2 victory over the Tennessee Titans, Mosley was declared out of the contest.
Although the Jets were granted ten days off in Week 4, it was thought that Mosley would have a better chance to play. However, the coaching staff doesn’t seem to think highly of Mosley.
Mosley was once more kept out of practice on Wednesday, and head coach Robert Saleh insisted that the team was exercising caution with his star linebacker while remaining evasive about his availability for Week 4.
Once more, it appears that Mosley’s availability might change at the last minute.
Don’t look now, but through the first three weeks of the season, Will McDonald leads all players in sacks. Entering Week 4, McDonald’s five sacks had him only behind Detroit Lions star Aidan Hutchinson for the league lead in sacks.
The former Iowa State standout has taken full advantage of his extended opportunity as Jermaine Johnson is now sidelined for the season and Haason Reddick is no longer with the team. The Jets think he has yet to reach the full extent of his abilities.
Reporters were informed on Wednesday by head coach Robert Saleh that he “still doesn’t even think [McDonald] has reached where he’s going to go.” Saleh is entirely correct.
Despite his ostentatious sack totals, McDonald has only managed 10 pressures this season, ranking
Not just the Jets are struggling with an injury to a key member of their linebacker corps. When the Denver Broncos play the Jets in Week 4, they won’t have their exceptional defensive captain, Alex Singleton.
Denver’s top tackler, Singleton, sustained an ACL tear early in the team’s victory over the Tampa Bay Bucs in Week 3. Despite having a torn ACL, Singleton miraculously managed to play the whole of the game, starting all 57 defensive snaps and led the team in tackles.
With the Broncos, Singleton amassed an incredible 340 tackles in 2022 and 2023, solidifying his position as a key member of the defense. It matters that he is not here.
On Wednesday, the Broncos added former Jet Kwon Alexander and veteran Zach Cunningham to their practice squad.
