Aurora Galli, an Everton midfielder, was dragged off the field during the Blues’ loss to Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Everyone at Everton is “gutted” for midfielder Aurora Galli, who sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the team’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, according to manager Brian Sorensen.
In their Women’s Super League (WSL) debut at Broadfield Stadium, the Blues were defeated four goals to zero. However, the most damaging incident of the match occurred in the 87th minute when Galli, also known as “Yaya,” was forced off the field after suffering an injury off the ball.
The Italy international’s ACL tear was confirmed by Everton on Wednesday, and she will now get rehabilitation at Finch Farm.
And in a major setback to his team, Sorensen acknowledged on Thursday that Galli is unlikely to play this season.
The Dane remarked, “Everyone is really gutted for Yaya.”
“We had a scan that verified it, but regrettably, we weren’t too sure on the day because you see them quite frequently and in a terrible way.
“I believe Yaya knew that after the game that it was what we had anticipated.
“We are making every effort to assist her, expedite the procedure, and ensure that she recovers more fully.
“We have suffered a great loss.
“Hopefully the last one, but the first one (ACL) since I’ve been here.”
Further injury reports regarding summer additions Melissa Lawley and Karen Holmgaard, who both did not play versus the Seagulls, were also provided by Sorensen.
“Melissa Lawley got a fracture on her elbow in the Liverpool (pre-season) game, that is why she was not available in Brighton,” he stated.
“To verify how severe it was, we only needed to perform a few scans.
“I’m hoping she returns in the following two or three weeks. Emily Ramsey has yet to fully recover. Following Karen Holmgaard
