Aidan Borland, a former member of the Celtic academy, made his senior debut with Aston Villa in the English Premier League.

In a transfer estimated to be around £300,000, the 17-year-old relocated to the South last summer (Transfermarkt).Borland, who is among the best players in his age group, has quickly advanced through Villa’s divisions and made his debut for the first team yesterday night.

With less than 30 minutes remaining in the EFL Cup, manager Unai Emery brought in Borland when the team was playing away at Wycombe Wanderers.

His club went on to win 2-1 away from home after he made an impressive cameo.

The midfield player is hoping that his Tuesday night performance in a Villa shirt is the beginning of many.

Moving away from home at the age of sixteen was a gamble, but thus far, it has paid off.

Though he is excelling at Birmingham, the Scotland youth international is just another gifted youngster who left Celtic early in his career.

Early in his playing career, Borland completed a move to a major club alongside players such as Ben Doak, Barry Hepburn, and Liam Morrison.

However, Borland’s transfer has so far gone as planned, unlike the three who went to Liverpool and Bayern Munich. But if he wants to become a Villa Park regular, he still has a ton of work to do.
