According to the tennis legend’s representative, Roger Federer might think about retiring in order to beat rival Rafael Nadal at a record. Although the 20-time Grand Slam winner retired in 2022, his supporters have been clamoring for one final appearance on the court.

In retirement, Federer has maintained a quiet profile, but Tony Godsick is adamant that his erstwhile client will take up a racket once more for a thrilling rematch with Nadal. The pair set a record for the highest attendance at a tennis match in 2020 when they played an exhibition match in South Africa.

A remarkable 51,000 people watched the fight, which helped generate almost £3 million for African children’s educational initiatives. Federer is reportedly thinking about making a brief comeback to tennis in order to take part in an occasion like this.

“As long as he isn’t feeling well physically, Roger Federer hasn’t wanted to play another match since his retirement. The record of spectators they defeated in South Africa comes to mind,” Godsick remarked.

“We enjoy taking on large tasks. Roger will undoubtedly take it into consideration if there is a way to surpass that one day. They both enjoy working together, and I enjoy dealing with Carlos Costa, Nadal’s agent. My recollections are excellent. In Mallorca, we conducted the half-earth, half-grass display. Nothing is off the table for the future.

Since competing with Nadal in the 2022 Laver Cup—a longtime competitor on the court as well as a good friend—federer has not played. However, the 42-year-old stated in June that he would gladly accept the Spaniard’s doubles invitation to rejoin at the Laver Cup.

“I don’t think we’ll play doubles together at the Laver Cup, but I’ll definitely be there if he asks me,” he stated.
