After losing 3-1 against Birmingham City on Monday, the Reds’ perfect start to the League One season came to an end. However, they recovered to overcome Crawley Town 2-1 at The Racecourse.

Wrexham took the lead at halftime thanks to Elliott Lee, and even though Crawley pulled one back early in the second half, Max Cleworth headed in a cross from George Dobson in the 79th minute to seal the win and maintain Parkinson’s team’s top spot in the standings.

Even if his team wasn’t playing at its best, the Reds manager was nonetheless happy that his team managed to win and keep their 100% home record.

“We had a difficult afternoon,” Parkinson remarked.

“We have performed admirably at home during the first three games of the season.

“Today, with or without the ball, we fell short of those levels, and we created our own issues by setting them up for a counterattack with careless passes, especially in the first half.

“Yet, there have been games like that here throughout the years where, for whatever reason, you don’t play at your best; yet, the important thing is to find a way to win and earn a result.

“And we have done that with a terrific cross and a great finish from Max.”
