Nuno Espirito Santo, the manager of Nottingham Forest, hopes to emulate Brian Clough’s accomplishments at the City Ground.
The most successful manager of Forest, who won four League Cups, a First Division championship, and consecutive European Cups in the 1970s and 1980s, passed away on Friday, marking 20 years since his passing.
Clough is an inspiration to Nuno, who has led the current crop to an undefeated start to the season.
Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Brighton, he stated, “The difference is what you see when you work for Forest, and how great Brian was.”
“He made history that is extremely difficult to replicate.”
However, it was also a dream since the impossible has been demonstrated to exist.
“In order to honor his memory, we must devote ourselves greatly.”
Being able to lead one of the major teams, Forest, makes me and my coaching staff proud.
I’m happy to be employed here.
We are really proud to be at Forest, but what Brian Clough accomplished is extremely hard to duplicate. Looking back, you see that Forest achieved something wonderful, and you have the desire to replicate it. It can guide and nourish you, but it doesn’t change you.
Everyone knows that these are different times—let’s keep our heads down and remember how big this is.
