Oliver Glasner expressed his dissatisfaction with the outcome but his satisfaction with his team’s performance in Crystal Palace’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City.
“It was especially mentally a very tough game, because we were down 1-0 at halftime and we said, ‘OK, now we want to keep going and we know we will create chances,'” the manager stated to Palace TV. “One minute later, it was 2-0.”
Then, we had a wonderful belief today thanks to the stand’s great support, and we returned with a big effect from our subs as well. In my opinion, the team’s comeback is a complement.
“We are aware that there are areas of the game that need work, particularly the ease with which we gave up goals. It’s not like they score while we’re under duress; rather, the second goal was a goalkeeper kick from 60 yards out.
We know we can constantly generate opportunities and score goals, but we also have this consequence when it comes to defense, so this is what we need to work on. This is only a byproduct; it is not an issue with our structure, and that is what we will address.
“As I indicated at the press conference, I really appreciate how the closeness was today, and thus the basement is established. For me, it’s like a restart with many new players. Although we are not thrilled with the result, I am incredibly glad and delighted with the players’ character and energy once more.
Against Leicester, Maxence Lacroix and Eddie Nketiah made their Crystal Palace debuts. Glasner observed:
“I believe it went well. The game itself seems fine to me, but in order for us to win, we must play well. If you play ok, the game ends in a draw, so our task now is to get better so that we can play well and win more games. When we play really well, we win a lot of games.
“We know that we can rely on our fans, and this gives us always a very good feeling,” Glasner said, acknowledging the Selhurst Park crowd’s contribution to Palace’s second-half comeback.
It’s easy to be boisterous as a supporter when you’re 4-0 or 5-0 up, but when you’re 2-0 down, as I believe I remarked multiple times this season.
